I think too many photographers just point and shoot when it comes to scenics. The great scenic photogs like Adams, Porter, Weston, Rowell and so many more that I can’t remember, would discuss “seeing”. They would take a lot of time (usually) to previsualize an image.
I don’t put myself anywhere near them in talent, but I do take my time (even when the mosquitoes are biting)
